One of the core reasons Ian and I started Sincera is annoyance - primarily around how much of the industry trends were not quantitatively driven. Stories were based on word of mouth and quotes (both named and anonymous). We were tired of seeing these type of under-quantified stories in the trade press, but we knew that the journalists didn’t have a choice - where were they to get this information from? From that annoyance came the “front door” to Sincera, the Main, or “Industry“ Dashboard. Available to all, and for most people, is all that they know Sincera for. While it's changed a lot, many elements have remained consistent over time.

That being said, we’ve been increasingly encountering bad actors who attempt to scrape Sincera data so aggressively it functions essentially like a DDOS attack. These bad actors aren’t cyber criminals (at least, not in the traditional sense) but companies that are nominally in digital advertising.
As of May 10th, access to the Main Dashboard requires creating a free Sincera account. This way, we can keep the Industry Dashboard free while blocking the bad actors who are hitting Sincera 40,000 times a day trying to extract our metadata.
